A two-day international summit will begin in Dhaka on November 23 to promote women-led businesses and create a global matchmaking platform.
The International Women Entrepreneurs' Summit (IWES) 2022, to be held at a city hotel, is expected to draw participants from 50 countries.
It will focus on investment opportunities in various sectors, like handloom, leather, food processing, healthcare, and lifestyle.
The IWES 2022 is being organised by the Bangladesh-India Business Council (BIBC), in collaboration with the Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA) and the Association of Fashion Designers of Bangladesh (AFDB).
The organisers made the announcement in a press conference at the BIDA headquarters in the city's Agargaon area on Monday.
BIDA Executive Chairman Lokman Hossain Miah attended the programme as the chief guest, while BIBC President Mantasha Ahmed chaired it.
BIBC vice-president Dr. Maliha Mannan and directors Zaara Mahbub, Zareen Mahmud Hossain and Rumana Dowla, and AFDB director Shahid Hussain Shamim spoke on the occasion, among others.
Briefing the media, organisers said eight sessions - on graduation of SMEs, food processing, health services, ICT, lifestyle, start-ups, women in big industries, and entertainment - will take place in the summit.
The session on women in big industries will focus on women in industries like apparel, pharmaceuticals, shipping, electronics, real estate, and construction.
Interested individuals are requested to register to attend the summit by using the web-link available with https://bibcbd.org/apply-now.
Speaking on the occasion, Lokman Hossain Miah said women's empowerment must be properly respected and women's participation in every sector must be ensured in order to take the nation to a desired level.
The upcoming international event will play a vital role to promote women entrepreneurship, he opined.
"The BIDA will provide women entrepreneurs with all required supports, so that they can contribute to the country's economy," he added.
