A six-day 'Advanced Training and Advisory Programme on Intellectual Property Rights in the Global Economy for the Least Developed Countries (LDCs)' was held in the city recently, says a statement.
The training programme was jointly organised by the World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO) and the Swedish Patent and Registration Office (PRV) in cooperation with the Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) and the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA).
Prof Dr Saiful Islam, Vice-Chancellor of BUET, inaugurated the programme and delivered the keynote speech.
Kifle Shenkoru, Director, Division for Least Developed Countries, World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO), Karin Bergh, Chief Legal Counsel, Swedish Patent and Registration Office (PRV), and Prof Dr Mohammad Arif Hasan Mamun, Director of Institute of Appropriate Technology (IAT) of BUET, also spoke.
Around 30 participants from 14 countries took part in the training programme.
