The fifteenth edition of an international tourism fair titled ‘US-Bangla Airlines Dhaka Travel Mart 2018’ began at Pan Pacific Sonargaon Dhaka on Thursday.
Forty eight organisations from Bangladesh and other countries are showcasing their products and services at the three-day event.
The Bangladesh Monitor is organising the fair for which US-Bangla Airlines is the title sponsor.
Minister for Civil Aviation and Tourism A.K.M. Shajahan Kamal inaugurated the fair this morning.
The opening ceremony was addressed, among others, by Mohammad Ali Ahsan, Director Marketing and Sales, Biman Bangladesh Airlines, Imran Asif, CEO US- Bangla Airlines and Kazi Wahidul Alam, Editor, The Bangladesh Monitor.
One-minute silence was observed at the beginning of the programme to hounour the victims of tragic plane crash at Kathmandu.
Doa was also offered seeking salvation of the departed souls and early recovery of the injured passengers.
One of the important features of the current edition of the fair is the participation of five tourism organisations from four different countries : Bangladesh Tourism Board, Bangladesh Parjatan Corporation, Nepal Tourism Board, Tourism Authority of Thailand and Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau.
The fair will remain open for visitors from 10:00am to 8:00pm every day. The entry fee for the event is Tk 30.
