Expressing concern over the Malaysian government’s decision to suspend recruitment of manpower from Bangladesh, Transparency International, Bangladesh (TIB) called for breaking down the existing ‘syndicate’ to check illegal manpower business.
“On one hand, it (suspension) would create an adverse impact on the country’s manpower export, on the other hand it would help prevent the existing illegal syndicate in manpower export, said TIB in a statement on Sunday.
The TIB issued the statement citing media reports that Malaysian government has decided to suspend hiring manpower from Bangladesh because of illegal business of syndicate in the sector.
Malaysia, one of major labour hiring hubs for Bangladesh, in August, came up with the decision to suspend all sorts of labour recruitment from Bangladesh from September 1.
Malaysia showed the monopoly of ‘syndicate’ in Bangladesh labor export field as the reason behind taking the decision, according to media reports.
TIB also urged the concerned authority of government to take necessary steps in order to break down the control of ‘syndicate’ in the labor export sector.
