The field officers of Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS) have been asked to ensure collection of quality data to help prepare the country's development agenda properly.
Accurate and quality data helps take appropriate policy decisions, a training programme for the BBS officers was told.
Joint directors, deputy directors and master trainers from the divisional and district offices of the national statistical organisation took part in the programme at the BBS auditorium in the capital on Sunday.
The training was organised under the BBS's second project of Monitoring the Situation of Vital Statistics of Bangladesh.
Saurendra Nath Chakrabhartty, Secretary (In-Charge) of Statistics and Informatics Division (SID) of the Ministry of Planning, inaugurated the function as the chief guest, with BBS Director General Dr. Krishna Gayen in the chair. AKM Ashraful Haque, the project director, gave the address of welcome.
Mr. Chakrabhartty said the training programme would facilitate the officers to be able to bring quality and accurate data from the field levels.
He called upon the officers to be practical and use common sense while collecting data.
