Speakers at a training programme have stressed the need to provide adequate financial support for the fire safety department in every industrial unit.

They also called for investing a certain amount of money in fire safety and protection equipment in all industries.

They also recommended installing fire extinguishers in every building/factory to prevent fire incidents.

The Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) in association with the Directorate of Bangladesh Fire Service and Civil Defence organised the training on 'Fire prevention and fire control at the industries and household units' in the city on Sunday.

Around 30 participants from the Bangladesh Chemical and Perfumery Merchant Association, the Bangladesh Paints, Dyes and Chemical Merchants' Association and the Bangladesh Plastic Pack-aging Roll Manufacturers Owners Association joined the training divided into three sessions.

As part of the training, a demonstration of fire control was held on the playground of Mohamedan Sporting Club at Motijheel in the city.

FBCCI Acting Secretary General Hussain Jamil formally inaugurated the training in the morning.

If any trade associations would like to organise such tanning programme, the FBCCI will provide necessary support in this regard, he said.

Dilip Kumar Ghosh, deputy director, and Khandakar Abdul Jalil and Anwarul Haque, deputy assistant directors of the Directorate of Bangladesh Fire Service and Civil Defence, conducted the training sessions.
