A three-day tea expo titled ‘Bangladesh Tea Expo-2018’ will kick off on Sunday (tomorrow) in the capital with an aim to expand the market and to promote tea related products.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is scheduled to inaugurate the expo at the International Convention City Bashundhara (ICCB) in Dhaka.
The Ministry of Commerce and Bangladesh Tea Board (BTB) is organising the expo with a view to boost the tea production with new varieties.
A clone variety (BT-21) of tea will be introduced in the expo, reports BSS.
A seminar on ‘Career Prospects in Tea Sector’ will be held on second day of the event while another seminar on ‘Diversification of Tea in Bangladesh’ will be on the concluding day.
Apart from cultural programmes on each day of the expo, mini auction and tea party will be organised.
The organisers will distribute prizes in seven categories for making contributions in tea sector of the country.
