Ten individuals and institutions got the 7th Agro Award 2021, hosted jointly by Standard Chartered Bank (SCB) and Channel i, for their significant contributions to the agriculture sector and the impact they have had on their communities.
They were given the award at the grand finale ceremony, held at a city hotel on Sunday.
Akbor Hossain got farmer of the year (male) award for farming fish and fruit. Nayan Selina and Nurunnahar Begum got the best farmer award in female category.
Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU) got the award as the best agricultural institution for its contribution in research, innovation and technology.
Pran Dairy Ltd, a sister concern of Pran RFL Group, got the best exporter of farm produce award.
Resource Development Foundation (RDF) was awarded as the best agricultural organisation in support and execution category.
Professor Dr Abdur Rahim was honoured with the lifetime achievement award.
Mohammad Nuruzza-man, editor and publisher of the Weekly Krishi O Amish, got the best journalist award.
Md Jahangir Alam Shah, founder of an agriculture library and a usable agriculture museum, was honoured in the heroes for change category.
Md Kobbat Hossain got the best jury special award for cultivating Chinese vegetables.
Agriculture Minister Dr Muhammad Abdur Razzaque was present in the programme as the chief guest.
Bangladesh Bank former governor Dr Atiur Rahman, BAU Vice Chancellor Dr Lutful Hasan, Channel i Director Shykh Seraj, Pran-RFL Group Chairman Ahsan Khan Chowdhury, and SCB Chief Executive Officer Naser Ezaz Bijoy, were also present, among others.
