Tea workers continued agitation for the sixth consecutive day on Thursday, threatening to wage a tougher movement if their demand for wage hike isn't met in the next two days.

"No decision was made at the tripartite meeting last night (Wednesday). Therefore, we decided to continue our agitation till the demand is met," Bangladesh Cha Sramik Union's acting general secretary Nripen Paul told the FE.

The union will hold a meeting on Saturday to fix the next course of action, said Mr Paul, adding, "If our demands aren't met by Saturday, we will go for tougher agitation."

Tea workers from 166 gardens across the country have been agitating for the enhancement of daily wages to TK 300 from the existing Tk 120.
