The state-owned Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB) will start selling commodities at subsidised rate across the country from April 22 on the occasion of the holy Ramadan beginning next month.

“The TCB is likely to start selling commodities across the country including the capital for Ramadan from April 22 at lower price compared to those at the retail markets,” said M Shekhabur Rahman, chief officer (Commercial) of TCB.

Under the programme, the TCB will sale 2000-2500 tonnes of edible oil, 2000 tonne sugar, 1000-1100 tonne lentil, 1500 tonne chickpea and 100 tonne dates.

A total of 2827 dealers will sell these commodities at 187 spots across the country with goods loaded on trucks—35 spots in the capital, 10 spots in Chattagram, five spots each in all the divisions and one each in all the district headquarters.

The TCB launched the selling operation, ahead of the holy month of Ramadan to help low-income people deal with possible hike in the prices of daily commodities. But the unit price of those commodities is yet to be fixed by the government, said the official, reports BSS.
