The country's largest export earner -- apparel sector -- sees keeping its present growth momentum on for the year 2022.

"Sustaining the existing export trend is one of the key challenges for the country's readymade garment industry," said Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) president Faruque Hassan.

Also expressing his concern over the spread of Omicron in major markets, he said high prices of raw materials and shipping costs might bring setback to RMG export earnings.

If the Covid situation doesn't deteriorate further, the present growth might continue in the new year, he noted.

"We have many work orders and more will come here in Bangladesh," he said adding that timely execution of orders is important.

He stressed for skilled development of workers, improvements in infrastructure especially in airports and all land ports and simplification of export-import activities to sustain the growth.
