Sugarcane growers to receive payments digitally through TallyPay

More than 60 thousand sugarcane growers will sell their produce using a digital system and receive their payments through TallyPay digital wallets nationwide.

Chowdhury Ruhul Ameen Kaiser, secretary of Bangladesh Sugar and Food Industries Corporation (BSFIC), Dr Shahadat Khan, chairman of OSV Bangladesh Ltd, and Md Abu Taleb, chief business officer of Progoti Systems Limited (PSL), signed an agreement at BSFIC headquarters recently.

Md Arifur Rahman Apu, chairman of BSFIC, was present in the programme as the chief guest. The  function was also attended by Khandakar Azim Ahmed, director (Finance), and Md Ashraf Ali, director CDR from BSFIC, and Md Shafiqul Islam, VP, PSL, according to a  statement.

OSV will provide software for E-gazette and e-purjee management system (EGPMS) while PSL will provide digital wallet service for the sugarcane growers. PSL will provide digital disbursement and payment service using TallyPay wallet, and facilitate cash out in collaboration with bank partners.

BSFIC Chairman Md Arifur Rahman Apu said, “We use an integrated e-Gazette, e-Purjee and e-Payment software and services to manage sugarcane procurement as part of the government's digitalisation initiative. This simplifies the operations and increases productivity and transparency of the sugar mills.”

“We can operate mills more efficiently. Both mills and cane farmers will be aware about the real-time progress,” commented Khandakar Azim Ahmed, direct (Finance), BSFIC.

Dr Shahadat Khan, founder of TallyKhata and also chairman of OSV said, “We help the sugar mills to operate using digital data and processes. The streamlined system benefits the growers to sell sugarcanes to the mills and get paid in a simple and hassle-free way. We are proud that the software is developed in-house by young engineers of our country.”

Md Abu Taleb, chief business officer of PSL said, “We are very delighted. TallyPay digital wallet will ensure accurate disbursement and hassle free cash-out for the farmers.”

TallyPay is a digital wallet service in Bangladesh for customers to make and receive payments. It is integrated with the TallyKhata platform - the largest digital platform for small businesses in Bangladesh. Currently TallyKhata has more than 4.6 million registered users.
