Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB) is set to launch open market sales (OMS) of key essential items today (Saturday) in order to keep prices within purchasing capacity of the commoners.

Through OMS, mainly food items are sold at subsidised rates by the government.

The TCB, a state-run agency, would sell some essential commodities in different parts of the country, using 300 trucks, according to a press release of the TCB.

Sugar, soybean oil and red lentils will be sold through trucks.

The OMS programme will continue across the country every day, except on government holidays, until October 28.

Soybean oil would be sold at Tk 100 per litre while Tk 55 has been fixed as selling price for each kilogram of sugar and Tk 55 for each kilogram of lentils.

Currently, around 2900 dealers are listed with the TCB.
