State-of-the-art Siemens switchboard factory opens in Savar

The newly refurbished state-of-the-art Siemens Switchboard Factory (SDSF) is open for operation in Savar.

Michael Schultheiss, deputy head of Mission, Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in Bangladesh inaugurated the factory as the chief guest in presence Prabal Bose, managing director of Siemens Bangladesh Ltd.

The factory spread over an area of 1763 square meters, will manufacture high quality switchgear and control panels ranging from low to medium and high voltage level, according to a press release.

The company plans to expand the production to world class type tested panels and to manufacture products with 25 per cent to 30 per cent localisation, while retaining world-class quality standards, UNB reports.

Ambassador Peter Fahrenholtz of Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in Bangladesh said, "Siemens has been a partner of the people of Bangladesh for more than 60 years”.

Peter adds that the German company with a history of more than 170 years strives to make the lives of the people better by building power plants and today, Siemens marked another important milestone in Bangladesh.
