A four-day software and IT-enabled services exposition titled 'BASIS Softexpo-2018' kicked off in Dhaka on Thursday.
The extravaganza will showcase mainly the local companies' capability in IT and related service sector.
Bangladesh Association of Software and Information Services (BASIS) has organised the show with the slogan 'designing the future' at Bangabandhu International Conference Centre in the city.
Finance Minister AMA Muhith inaugurated the expo which was also attended by Posts, Telecommunication and ICT Minister Mustafa Jabbar, BASIS President Almas Kabir and BASIS Director cum this year’s expo convener Mostafizur Rahman Sohel.
Some 200 ICT companies from home and abroad are showcasing their products and services in a total of five zones, organisers informed.
The showcasing zones include software zone, mobile innovation zone, digital commerce zone, ITES and BPO zone and cloud computing zone.
Besides, BASIS Students Forum members are also there to showcase innovative projects and to have a clear understanding of the country's ever-growing ICT sector.
About 30 seminars and tech sessions have been organised on different issues regarding the software industry and its future prospects.
Organisers said the event acts as a platform so that the local companies can take it as an opportunity to initiate business ventures with foreign companies through business to business (B2B) sessions.
