A small group will be assigned within two months to make an efficient capital market conducive to long-term financing, Finance Minister AMA Muhith has said.
He, however, did not elaborate about the group while speaking as the chief guest at the inaugural session of Annual General Meeting of Janata Bank Limited on Sunday.
Muhith said various efforts like BSRS and ICB had been taken over the years to make the capital market strong enough for long-term financing but those ended in smoke.
In the absence of a strong and efficient capital market, the commercial banks now focus on investment financing, which is not healthy in accordance with the existing banking rules.
