The SME entrepreneurs of the country are the main driving force of the economy and if their skill development can be ensured, the scope of employment in Bangladesh would increase.
DCCI acting President Arman Haque made the observation speaking as the chief guest at a workshop on Saturday. He said the DCCI Business Institute (DBI) regularly organises several workshops in order to develop the skill of entrepreneurs and this workshop would pave the way for skill acquisition of the entrepreneurs.
The Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) Business Institute (DBI) in cooperation with Beyond Red Ocean Consulting, Mumbai, India organised the workshop.
About 30 participants joined the workshop titled "Business Masterclass-Master the Chaos in Your Business" held at the DCCI auditorium in the capital.
Arman said that with the advancement of Information and Communication Technology the trend of operating business changed a lot.
"In order to adapt to the new changes, there is no alternative but to prepare ourselves," he said.
Mr Haque said conducting business became very challenging for SMEs in the present day.
He advised all concerned to focus more on innovation and skills development to overcome this challenge
While conducting the workshop Malay Chakroborty, Business Coach, Beyond Red Ocean Consulting, said SME sector entrepreneurs around the world face various obstacles to operating their business.
Due to these hurdles 70 per cent of the new startups failed to continue their business and were forced to quit their business within five years, he opined.
He also said that in order to survive in this sector, the entrepreneurs must focus on their skill development, time and asset management.
DCCI Vice President Monowar Hossain gave vote of thanks at the inaugural ceremony.
