Today (Wednesday) is the sixth anniversary of Rana Plaza building collapse.
The worst-ever industrial tragedy took place in Savar on the outskirts of Dhaka on this day in 2013, leaving at least 1,138 people dead and 2,500 others injured, mostly garment workers.
Following the deadliest accident, poor state of workplace safety and workers' rights in the country's readymade garment (RMG) sector have drawn huge attention of both local and international communities.
Traumatised survivors of the building collapse are still suffering a lot. According to a recent study by the ActionAid Bangladesh, about 51 per cent of Rana Plaza survivors have remained jobless for the last six years due to their physical and mental weaknesses.
