The Singapore Business Federation (SBF) and Enterprise Singapore, the leading business organisations of Singapore, have expressed their interest in investing on a government-to-government basis in the country’s economic zones, aiming at enhancing more business ties between two countries.
The visiting organisations showed their utter interest at a meeting at the Bangladesh Economic Zones Authority (BEZA) headquarters in the capital on Monday.
Non-Resident Singapore High Commissioner to Bangladesh Derek Loh led the business delegation during the function, while BEZA Executive Chairman Shaikh Yusuf Harun chaired it.
Executive Director of the SBF Soo Wei-Chieh, Regional Director of Enterprise Singapore Sabrina Ho, Bangladesh Business Chamber of Singapore president Mohammad Shahiduzzaman, among others, attended the event.
Describing the existing bilateral relations between Bangladesh and Singapore as excellent, Derek Loh said his government is committed to strengthening the economic ties between these two countries.
Singaporean and Bangladeshi institutions based in that country are working together at the policy-making level for this purpose, he added.
In his speech, Shaikh Yusuf Harun emphasised the development of economic zones in various regions of the country with the goal of accelerating the country's economic growth.
Noting that the country now has an investment-friendly climate, he urged the businessmen of Singapore to invest more in the country.
