Secondary trading of T-bills, bonds stand at Tk 16.94 b in July

Secondary trading of Treasury Bills (T-bills) and Treasury Bonds (T-bonds) jumped significantly in the first month of the current fiscal year (FY19).

Latest statistics, released by the central bank, showed that the value of the secondary trading of T-bills and T-bonds stood at Tk 16.94 billion in July this year.

The value was only Tk 1.16 billion in the month of June, the last month of the past fiscal year (FY18).

But the value was Tk 24.76 billion in July past year, the first month of FY18.

Banks and financial institutions are the main buyers of these fixed income government securities. T-bills are short-term in nature and T-bonds are long-term.
