CHATTOGRAM: The second divisional VAT (value-added tax) fair will begin in Chattogram on Wednesday (today).
The two-day fair will be held at Agrabad, Chattola, Chandgaon, Rangamati, Khagrachari, Patiya, Bandarban and Cox's Bazar -- the eight offices under the Chattogram divisional VAT office.
VAT Commissioner and Convenor of the fair Mohammed Akbar Hossain disclosed this at a press conference at the Agrabad tax office in the port city on Tuesday.
Addressing the press conference, he said they had got a good response from businessmen in the Chattogram zone during the first VAT fair held last year. The businessmen could successfully submit their returns online at that time, he added.
Hoping for good responses this time around, the commissioner said they had already installed 120 EFDs (electronic fiscal devices) in Chattogram to make the process easier for the business people.
Also present at the press conference were joint VAT commissioners Md Mushfiqur Rahman and Mohammed Selim Sheikh, deputy commissioners Md Shahinur Kabir Pavel, Shushanta Paul, Md Sayed Ahamed Rubel, Muhammed Saqidul Alam and Md Ahasan Ullah, and assistant commissioners Anurupa Devi, H M Kabir and S M Sarafat Hossain.
