SM Amzad Hossain has tendered his resignation from the post of chairman of South Bengal Agriculture and Commerce Bank (SBAC) Limited on health grounds.
Mr. Hossain submitted his resignation letter to the bank’s board of directors on September 07 mentioning his physical illness as the reason for stepping down, a senior official of the fourth generation private commercial bank (PCB) told the FE on Tuesday.
“Our chairman has also advised the board to start the process of electing a new chairman," Asadullah Galib, Public Relations Officer of the bank, said while replying to a query.
He also said the new chairman for the bank is likely to be elected at the next board meeting scheduled to be held on September 26.
SM Amzad Hossain had been serving as the bank's founder chairman since 2013.
On the other hand, the anti-corruption commission (ACC) has started a probe against the alleged allegations of financial irregularities against Mr. Hossain.
