Rice price starts declining on drives against hoarding

RAJSHAHI, Sept 28: Rice price has been started declining gradually in the retail markets of all the eight districts of Rajshahi division as the district administration conducted frequent drives against hoarding of rice.
In a visit on Wednesday this corresponded saw that Bridhan- 28 and 29 were being sold at Tk 46 to Tk 48 in the local markets.
Sources said most of the rice mills owners have not signed to the supply contract at the rate which was fixed by the government as prices of the essential commodity item are high in the market.
Sources said to remain the market under control, mobile court is playing a vital role along with the Market Regulatory Committee.
Food Control Officer Monirul Islam said rice is being sold under the open market sale (OMS) progarmme across the region to mitigate sufferings of the commoners.
