The 'REHAB Fair 2019' begins in the capital tomorrow (Wednesday) to promote the country's real estate sector.
The five-day fair will be held at the city's Bangabandhu International Conference Centre (BICC), which is expected to create a matchmaking platform among the real estate companies, customers and housing-related financial organisations.
The Real Estate and Housing Association of Bangladesh (REHAB) made the announcement at a press conference at the National Press Club on Monday, a statement said.
Three Vice-Presidents of the trade body Liakat Ali Bhuiyan, Md Anwaruzzaman and Kamal Mahmud, and fair organising committee Chairman Md Shakil Kamal Chowdhury attended the conference, among others.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr Liakat Ali Bhuiyan said the rate of urbanisation in Bangladesh is the highest among the Asian nations.
"Dhaka, among the fastest growing megacities, is registering the highest population growth among the south Asian cities," he said.
Referring to the United Nation's 'World Urbanisation Prospectus: The 2014 Revision', Mr. Bhuiyan said Dhaka will emerge as the earth's sixth largest densely populated city by 2030.
REHAB is making a significant contribution to meet the people's growing housing demand in the city, he said.
The upcoming fair will help customers choose their housing solution as per their respective requirements at one place, he added.
According to the organisers, there will be 202 stalls in the exposition, including 20 construction materials providers and 14 financial institutions.
Housing and Public Works Minister SM Rezaul Karim is scheduled to inaugurate the event. Following the inaugural ceremony, the trade fair will remain open for the visitors from 2.00 pm onwards.
However, the event will welcome visitors from 10.00 am to 9.00 pm on the remaining four days.
The REHAB is offering two types of tickets namely single and multiple entries, which would cost Tk 50 and Tk 100 each respectively. A visitor will get access to the fair five times with the multiple entry ticket.
The earnings from the ticket sales will be utilized for the charity activities.
Besides, a raffle draw of the entry tickets will be held on the concluding day.
The REHAB has been organising the housing fair in the capital since 2001.
