A five-day REHAB (Real Estate and Housing Association of Bangladesh) Fair 2017 ended Monday receiving positive response from both the realtors and customers.
Held at the Bangabandhu International Conference Center (BICC), the fair drew a huge number of visitors on the concluding day, a public holiday on account of X-mas Day.
While visiting the fair venue, the FE correspondent found that a huge number of visitors were making queries with representatives of the real estate companies at the stalls to discuss about flats and land plots.
When asked, Md Abdul Khaleque, a private service holder said he visited the fair to know about the offers and pricing for a medium size flat for his own.
"I wish to buy a flat within 2-3 years. The REHAB fair is a good platform to know and compare the price and facilities offered by the flat makers," he said.
Mr Khaleque also said he had collected brochures, leaflets and business cards of representatives of the real estate companies for future reference.
"It is an urgent necessity for me to own a flat even with loan from banks, as the house rent is rising alarmingly along with other complexities," he added.
Besides, prospective ones, a good number of customers confirmed their bookings instantly at the venue.
More than 200 companies including real estate, construction, building materials, bathroom fittings, interior decorations, sanitary and financial institutions took part in the fair.
Head of marketing of East West Property Development, Bidyut Kumar Bhowmik said his company received booking for more than 25 plots in the fair.
"The fair is much more important for giving a scope to make interaction with the customers, than getting new booking," he said.
The visitors' growing interest indicates that the housing sector is set to make a good come back in coming years after sluggish growth since 2012, he said.
Hamid Real Estate Construction Limited's Manager Moynul Islam said his company had been offering both plots and flats in its several projects.
"In recent times, small and medium sized flat ranging between 1200 and 1500 square feet are selling most," he said.
A director of the REHAB, Omar Faruq expressed satisfaction over the feedback from customers.
"The total number of visitors this year is expected to surpass the previous ones," he said.
He said nearly 30,000 visitors visited the fair in the five-day fair.
"We believe most of the visitors coming to the fair are real buyers, as they have to pay Tk 50 for per ticket," he said.
Such enthusiasm makes the realtors believe to witness a thriving momentum at the real estate sector in coming years, he added.
