A five-day long housing fair titled ‘REHAB Fair 2017’ begins at the Bangabandhu International Conference Centre in Dhaka on Thursday.
The Real Estate and Housing Association of Bangladesh (REHAB) will host the fair to help consumers find flats and plots at an affordable cost.
REHAB acting president Nurun Nabi Chowdhury (Shaon) MP briefed the media about the fair at Jatiya Press Club on Sunday.
He said a total of 203 stalls will be set up in the fair this year with 30 and 13 representatives respectively from the building materials companies and financial institutions.
Commerce minister Tofail Ahmed will attend the inaugural session of the fair as the chief guest while state minister for power, energy and mineral resources Nasrul Hamid will attend it as special guest.
The fair will continue till 25 December. It will remain open from 10:00am to 9:00pm every day.
The entry fee will be Tk 50 for each person and multiple tickets for Tk 100.
The leaders of the association claimed that the real estate and housing sector is contributing 15 per cent to the national GDP. But the excess registration fee is creating barrier to the growth of this sector.
The association leaders urged government to reduce the registration fee by 6-7 per cent.
REHAB vice president Liaqat Ali Bhuiyan, among others, was present at the press conference.
The REHAB has been hosting the fair for the last 17 years, according to UNB.
