Speakers at a programme on Saturday evening urged different organisations to employ local cost and management accountants (CMAs) instead of hiring from abroad in a bid to save foreign currencies.
Recruiting local CMA professionals will give the companies competitive advantages in the long run as there are sufficient numbers of talented accountants in the country, they observed.
They were addressing a view-exchange meeting of the Institute of Cost and Management Accountants of Bangladesh (ICMAB) with human resource (HR) professionals and recruiting agencies held at a hotel in the city's Gulshan-2, according to a press release.
Presided over by ICMAB President Md Mamunur Rashid, the event was addressed by the Institute's Vice Presidents Imtiaz Alam and Md Munirul Islam, Secretary A K M Kamruzzaman, former President ASM Shaykhul Islam and Bangladesh Society for Human Resources Management (BSHRM) President Md Musharrof Hossain, among others.
Referring to the Financial Reporting Act, 2015, ICMAB President Mr Rashid urged the HR heads of different organisations to recruit CMA professionals in their organisations.
Mentioning that ICMAB members are working at top positions in different sectors in the country, he said the Institution maintains a world-class course curriculum and its certification is recognised globally.
As a member body of the International Federation of Accountants (IFAC), Confederation of Asian and Pacific Accountants (CAPA), South Asian Federation of Accountants (SAFA), ICMAB members maintain highest level of professional ethics and code of conduct at their workplaces, he said.
Mr Rashid also said that corporate organisations can recruit ICMAB-graduate CMA professionals instead of hiring professionals from abroad at high salaries, saving not only the company's funds but the forex reserve of the country.
Meanwhile, BSHRM President viewed that the local CMAs are very much capable and can fit in a variety of positions in different corporate organisations.
He also spoke highly about the Job Portal of ICMAB which is very unique among the professional bodies.
He hoped the portal will work as a platform for the employers in finding the right employees as well as for the job seekers in finding their desired job.
Meanwhile, the ICMAB authorities re-launched a newly-developed dynamic and user-friendly job portal which will work as a hub for the job seekers as well as the employers.
The portal will facilitate job seekers' CV posting and employers' right employee selection by using its diversified search options like sector-wise, experience, age group etc.
