The country's raw jute exporters sought cash subsidy on their export earnings to facilitate the sector's further growth.
They also demanded bringing the raw jute exporters under the stimulus packages, given by the government for the businesses during the Covid-19 pandemic period.
They placed the demands in the 54th annual general meeting (AGM) of the Bangladesh Jute Association (BJA), held at the association's office in Narayanganj on Sunday.
The BJA members sought exemption of their bank loan interests, as they were impacted by the pandemic. The trade-body leaders said they were maintaining communication with the related ministries in this regard.
BJA newly-elected chairman Sk Syed Ali, senior vice-chairman Arzu Rahman Bhuiya, and vice chairman F M Saifuzzaman, among others, was present in the meeting.
