Garment workers should be made financially literate so that they can access digital financial services for better financial inclusion, speakers said at a programme.
In this regard, a project titled 'Sarathi- Improving Financial Health' was launched on Tuesday at a hotel in the city's Kurmitola with a view to promoting RMG workers' access to modern, digital and formal financial services. Swisscontact in collaboration with MetLife Foundation introduced the 24-month project, according to a press release.
Planning Minister MA Mannan formally inaugurated the programme as the chief guest, while Bangladesh Knitwear Manufacturers and Exporters Association Execu- tive President Mohammad Hatem, Bangladesh Bank Additional Director (financial inclusion division) Prajna Paramita Saha, MetLife Bangladesh CEO Ala Uddin Ahmad, Swisscontact Bangladesh Country Director Mujibul Hasan and Sarathi's team leader Bipasha Sharmin Hossain, among others, spoke at the programme.
