Prime Bank Foundation to build 500-bed hospital

Prime Bank Foundation, a non-profit initiative of Prime Bank Limited, is going to build a 500-bed state-of-the-art hospital at a cost of Tk 7.0 billion.

To this effect, the foundation signed a Memorandum of Understanding on Wednesday with Ehsan Khan Architects Limited for designing the proposed hospital.

The MoU was signed at Prime Bank's head office in capital.

The medicare facility, planned to be built in Ashulia, outskirts of the city, includes world-class services for primary and tertiary care.

The main hospital will be constructed on 17 acres of land whereas other facilities related to hospital including medical colleges, dormitories and nursing institute will be built on a separate 16 bighas of land adjacent to the hospital.

It will also have a residential compound and education facilities for the future doctors and nurses.

London-based International Hospitals Group (IHG) conducted the feasibility study for the project, which is expected to be financed by international financiers.

Speaking about the project, Prime Bank Foundation Chairman Azam J Chowdhury said the hospital would provide healthcare at a competitive price for all.

He said after building the hospital, it would be handed over to globally renowned hospital management company to ensure smooth operation of the healthcare facility.

Prime Bank Ltd Chairman Tanjil Chowdhury and representatives from both organisations were present at the signing event between the philanthropic organisation and the architectural firm.
