PPPA launches 18-month training for government officials

The Public Private Partnership Authority (PPPA) has organised an 18-month training programme for the government officials to build their capacity to implement PPP projects.

Prime Minister's Principal Secretary Dr Ahmad Kaikaus inaugurated the comprehensive programme at a city hotel on Tuesday, with a call to get prepared for being able to cope with the challenges of the fourth industrial revolution (4IR).

Bangladesh is standing tall on the verge of 4IR as it has done all to prepare for the digital integration, he said, adding that a strong pool of trained professionals are required for attaining Vision 2041 of the country.

Training consortium of SREI Infrastructure Finance Ltd, Administrative Staff College of India and Grant Thorton will provide training to the government officials and other actors of the public-private partnership (PPP) projects.

Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Vikram Doraiswami and Deputy CEO of SREI Souren Mukhopadhayay also spoke at the function, chaired by PPPA Chief Executive Officer Sultana Afroz.

Civil Aviation and Tourism Secretary Mokammel Hossain and RAJUK Chairman ABM Ullah Nuri were present.

The speakers said the capacity building of the government officials, private sector and other development actors is crucial for the long-term success of the PPP projects.
