The Philippines has expressed its interest to import pharmaceutical products from Bangladesh and to invest in the fields of electrical appliances, agro-food processing and leather in the country.
Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi gave the information after a meeting with the Philippines Ambassador to Bangladesh Vicente Vivencio T Bandillo at his secretariat office on Wednesday, reports BSS.
The minister informed that currently the export volume of Bangladeshi pharmaceuticals has stood worth $ 7 million.
"But Dhaka has the enormous potentiality to boost the exports in this sector and the government would take necessary measures to this end,” Tipu Mushi said.
In fiscal 2017-18, Bangladesh exported to the Philippines products worth $ 47.04 million against the import of worth $ 8.07 million.
“Both the countries are eager to boost bilateral trade,” said the commerce minister.
Commerce Secretary M Mofizul Islam was also present.
