Bangladesh Bank has asked officials of all financial institutions to refrain from travelling abroad for training, seminars, meetings, workshops and study tours with an aim to lessen pressure on foreign reserves.
The central bank gave the directive in a circular issued on Sunday.
The circular says travelling abroad with 100 per cent financing from foreign organisers will be excluded from the restriction.
However, officials of all financial institutions can travel abroad at their own financing for special issues. They can also make foreign trips for performing Hajj. Besides, foreign travel is allowed for urgent medical treatment on the basis of recommendations from a specialist physician.
Foreign nationals, who are working at financial institutions in Bangladesh, are also eligible for foreign travel.
