Country’s solar-powered bank branches increased by 2.10 per cent in the past year, according to the latest statistics of the central bank.
There were 533 such branches in 2017, up by 11 from 522 in 2016, the data showed.
As for Financial Institutions, the number of solar-powered branches fell to two in last year, down by one from three in the year before last.
Countrywide, there are 57 banks, whose branches stood at 10039 at the end of 2017. Compared to this total number of bank branches, solar-powered ones are some 5.30 per cent only.
The number of bank branches reached 9760 at the end of 2016, while it stood at 207 for the financial institutions in the same year’s end.
Latest quarterly review report of the green banking activities showed the number of Small and Medium Enterprise units and Automated Teller Machines of the banks declining to 217 in 2017 from 254 in 2016.
