No voting needed as FBCCI director candidates are unopposed

All FBCCI directors set to be elected unopposed

The entire board of directors of Bangladesh’s apex trade body FBCCI is going to be elected unopposed as there are single candidates for all the posts.

No voting will be needed in the election slated for April 27 to the FBCCI executives’ body for the 2019-2021 term.

The deadline for nomination paper submission in the election to the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) ended on Monday.

As many as 21 candidates for the directors’ posts submitted their nominations from the Chamber Group and as many from the Association Group, an FBCCI official said, reports bdnews24.

Besides the 42, the 72-strong board will be formed with 30 other nominated candidates – 15 from as many associations, including BGMEA, BTMEA, and BKMEA, and the 15 others from chambers of commerce and industry like DCCI, MCCI, and CCCI.

“Necessary verification is under way now. The final list of directors will be published on April 4 after the end of the process. The president will be elected then,” the official said.

Incumbent Senior Vice-President Sheikh Fazle Fahim is going to be elected president of FBCCI this time.

The managing director of Obsidian Bangladesh Limited, Fazle Fahim heads the Gopalganj Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

He announced the list of candidates of his panel on Sunday. He will replace Shafiul Islam Mohiuddin, who was elected from the Association Group in the last election in 2017.

The president and vice-president will be elected from the Chamber Group while the post of senior vice-chairman will go to the Association Group this time in line with the organisation’s charter.

Those going to elected FBCCI directors unopposed are:
