The central Bank has instructed banks not to impose any charges or fees on the credit-card users before the activation of the same.
In a circular, the Bangladesh Bank on Tuesday issued some other directives regarding the imposition of 'non-transaction charges' on credit cards in a bid to ensure fair payments for their users.
The instructions came as the central bank noticed that different types of non-transaction charges, including annual fees and SMS fees were being imposed on credit cards even before their activation.
The BB issued the directives in line with the Article 45 of the Bank Company Act, 1991 to protect the interest of customers.
