A three-day trade fair has successfully ended at Jackson Heights in New York City on Sunday with a pledge to introduce Bangladesh brands across the world.
Titled 'Rupayan NRB Global Convention & Bangladesh Trade Fair 2018', the fair, organised by Muktadhara New York Inc, started on Friday.
The fair on the last day features six discussion events, of which one was on ‘Investment Opportunities in Bangladesh & Exploring Bangladeshi Products in North American Market’.
Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Dhaka (MCCI) President Nihad Kabir, speaking at the discussion, said non-resident Bangladeshis (NRBs) can play a much better role in introducing Bangladesh brands to the world.
Bangladesh is now progressing on many fronts creating investment opportunities, of which the NRBs can take advantage, greatly contributing to the country’s economy as well as building their fortune, she said.
Moderated by economist Dr Nazrul Islam, the discussion was attended by Federation of Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce and Industries Director Priti Chakraborty, among others.
The second discussion on the day was on 'Bangladesh, Looking Forward'.
Speaking on the issue, Acting Editor of The Financial Express Shahiduzzaman Khan said Bangladesh’s image will improve remarkably if the NRB World Wide Inc entities brand the country in a planned way.
Bangladeshis have positioned themselves well in most countries in the world and so it will yield quite good results if the bodies, like Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) and Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI), work together with them about this, he said.
Writer Ahmad Mazhar and journalist Dr Akhil Poddar also spoke at the discussion, moderated by journalist Hasan Ferdous.
The third discussion was held on ‘Finding Perfect Home of Bangladeh for NRB’.
US-Bangla Housing Chief Executive Officer-cum-Managing Director Golam Mostofa and Rishal Group of Industries Chairman-cum-Managing Director Sakhawat Hossain, among others, spoke at the event.
The fourth discussion was titled ‘Caring for the Elderly’.
Moderated by veteran journalist Nini Wahed, Nilufa Shirin and Abdul Wahed spoke there.
The fifth discussion was held on ‘Immigration Challenges for NRB Round Table’.
Attorney-at-law Soma S Sayed detailed the minutes about the immigration at the discussion, moderated by Barrister Aftab Ahmed.
The sixth discussion was titled ‘Women entrepreneurs: Making a Difference’.
Journalist Moniza Rahman presented what she knew about problems facing women entrepreneurs at the event.
Journalist Ahmad Mazhar moderated the discussion.
At the end of the last-day fair was held a musical ceremony, in which Krishna Tithi, Shah Mahbub, Mariam Maria and Priyongboda Bondopadhay rendered songs.
Apart from Bangladesh’s Rupayan Group and Purbachal American City, a total of 35 apparel entities took part in the trade fair.
