New tariff rate of gas is rational, says FBCCI president

President of Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industries (FBCCI) Jashim Uddin says the new tariff rate of gas is rational.

The president of the apex trade body thanked Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for keeping gas prices rational amid the global turmoil caused by the Ukraine-Russia War and the rising trend of LNG prices, reports BSS citing a press release.

The FBCCI believes that the new rates have been set taking into consideration the capabilities of all types of industries in the country, from national and international perspectives.

The FBCCI president believes that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's far-sighted decision regarding gas tariffs will further accelerate the country's industrialisation and economic growth.

Jashim called upon the distribution companies to ensure an uninterrupted gas supply to keep the factory production persistent.

Earlier on the day, Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission (BERC) raised wholesale gas prices by 22.78 per cent to Tk 11.91 per unit. The decision will boost gas prices across the board, except for CNG users for vehicles, according to bdnews24.com.
