Arrival of expatriate migrant workers to the country continues unabated due to the Covid-19 pandemic impact.

Nearly 200,000 workers returned home from 29 countries during the last six months.

The hapless workers came back home following factors like job cuts, expiration of job contracts, and their irregular status etc.

Data released by the expatriates' welfare desk at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) shows that a total of 1,95,698 Bangladeshi workers returned home between April 01 and October 13 of this year.

Among the jobless returnees, 1,63,163 workers returned with passport, while 32,535 workers returned without passport.

A good number of them served imprisonment prior to their departure for home, officials said.
