The National Board of Revenue (NBR) has been offering services for taxpayers participating in the four-day 'Digital World-2017', an ICT exposition that kicked off on Wednesday.
Taxpayers can obtain electronic taxpayers identification number (e-TIN) and Business Identification Number (BIN) through IVAS and submit tax returns through Bitax in the multi-facet expo.
In a statement, Senior Secretary of the Internal Resources Division (IRD) and NBR Chairman Md Nojibur Rahman said the revenue authority has started process to digitise NBR to materialise the government's commitment to build digital Bangladesh.
"We have achieved some significant progress on digitisation which would be placed in the exposition," Nojibur Rahman said.
The 'Digital World 2017' is the fifth event in a row. At first, it was held in 2011 as 'e-Asia 2011'. Since then ICT Division has been continuing hosting this event every year. In 2012, this event was renamed as Digital World and subsequently ICT Division hosted Digital World in 2014, 2015 and 2016.
This year the theme for the exposition is 'Ready for Tomorrow' - showcasing how the ICT sector has grown and matured over the last decade.
The fifth digital world is being held at Bangabandhu International Conference Centre in the capital. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the event.
