The National Board of Revenue (NBR) brought out a colourful procession on Monday to celebrate the National VAT Day and VAT Week-2018 with a call for creating mass awareness among people for paying vat and tax.
In order to promote vat and tax pay for the country's development, number of programmes have been chalked out to observe the day.
NBR chairman Md Mosharraf Hossain Bhuiyan inaugurated the VAT day and week through a rally at around 9:30am, started from its Segunbagicha headquarters.
A view exchange meeting and award giving ceremony will also be held later today to mark the occasion.
Finance minister AMA Muhith is expected to attend the function as chief guest.
The NBR will honour a total of 144 top VAT-payers at the national and district levels on the occasion.
The board will also observe the National VAT Week - 2018 from December 10-15 across the country.
