FE Report
The National Board of Revenue (NBR) has launched an audio-visual tutorial for making the tax return submission simple for the taxpayers.
Income tax member (tax administration and human resources management) Ziauddin Mahmood inaugurated the innovative tax education programme on the fifth day of the week-long tax fair in the city's Officers' Club.
Taxpayers will be able to fill out their tax returns without the help of the third party if they follow the tutorials.
Expenses for submitting returns by taxpayers will go down if taxpayers can fill out their own return, officials said.
Speaking at the programme, Mr Mahmood said the revenue board is gradually digitising its tax-related services, including tax education.
Suborna Chowdhury, joint commissioner of taxes, is the innovator of the tutorial, which would help reduce taxpayers' harassment, he said.
The video tutorials will be uploaded on the youtube channel for the taxpayers.
On the sidelines of the tax-fair in the city, some 40 students of Notre dame College, Dhaka attended a tax education forum
On the fifth-day, the NBR received Tk 2.90 billion income taxes against 81,599 tax returns at the tax-fair.
Tax-fairs took place in some 73 spots including eight divisional headquarters, 52 districts and 13 upazilas on Saturday.
Tax-fairs will continue until Monday in eight divisional headquarters from 9.00 am to 5.00 pm.
