The National Board of Revenue (NBR) has offered tax waiver of prize money of the electronic fiscal device lottery winners.
The income tax wing of the board issued an order on Tuesday by waiving 20 per cent advance income tax on the prize money.
The board holds the lottery today (Friday) on its premises.
According to the order, prize money on the basis of invoice numbers issued from the EFD Management System (EFDMS) will be exempted from the payment of income tax.
The NBR will reward 101 consumers with cash and cheque each month for their payment of value added tax. As per the policy, the first prize winner will get Tk 0.1 million in cash and the second prize Tk 50,000.
