State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Nasrul Hamid has urged the realtors to use Net Metering System (NMS) to ensure economic use of electricity.
"You can take advantage of economic use of electricity through using NMS”, he told real estate developers while inaugurating REHAB Chattogram Fair-2021 on Thursday in Chattogram.
Under the NMS, any consumer can sell unconsumed electricity to the government from his solar power system, reports UNB.
The state minister said that the government has been implementing different projects to achieve the goal of energy security and uninterrupted power supply which will ensure sustainable development.
He mentioned that the government has increased the primary fuel supply to consolidate energy security.
“Cent percent electrification is almost done and we’re now working on modernizing the power transmission and distribution systems,” he said.
The function, with Real Estate & Housing Association of Bangladesh (REHAB) president Shamsul Alamin in the chair, was also addressed by Chattogram City Corporation Mayor Rezaul Karim Chowdhury and REHAB Chattogram unit president Abdul Quiyum Chowdhury.
Nasrul Hamid said the government as well as real-estate developers have a major responsibility to build a planned city.
Real-estate developers can make an effective contribution by constructing energy-efficient buildings, he said adding, the gas and electricity connections will be provided to the industries and factories which will be set up at the government-designated places in the future.
The state minister urged the REHAB leaders to follow the rules and regulations of the country in developing their housing projects.
He also urged them to help the homeless people by contributing to the Prime Minister's Shelter Project. Earlier in the morning, the state minister also inaugurated the REHAB Chattogram regional office.
