Month-long CITF kicks off in Chattogram Wednesday

CHATTOGRAM: The month-long Chittagong International Trade Fair (CITF) begins today (Wednesday) at the Polo Ground in the port city.

Chittagong Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI) has organised the 27th version of the fair of which Thailand is the country partner.

A good number of companies from home and abroad, including India and Thailand, will join the fair. They will showcase their different kinds of products at the 0.4-million-square-feet venue.

Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi will inaugurate the fair at 3:00pm at CCCI's Bangabandhu Conference Hall at the World Trade Centre.

Deputy Minister for Education Barrister Mohibul Hasan Chowdhury Nowfel will be present at the inaugural function as the special guest. Former CCCI president M A Latif will also join the event.

Senior Vice President of CCCI and Chairman of the 27th CITF organising committee Nurun Newaz Selim said this at a press conference in the city this afternoon.

He said the fair will remain open for visitors from 10:00am to 10:00pm every day and entry ticket has been fixed at Tk 12 for one per person.

He said 450 stalls have been set up at the venue. The stalls include 25 premier gold pavilions, two premier pavilions, 180 premier mega stalls, six standard stalls and e-ticketing stalls and other.

Addressing the press conference CCCI President Mahbubul Alam said a Kolkata-based company will exhibit fibre-making equipment at the fair.

CCCI Vice President Syed Jamal Ahmed, directors Ahid Siraj Chowdhury, Tarafdar Ruhul Amin, Kamal Mostafa Chowdhury, Anjan Shekhar Das and Syed Sagir Ahmed were also present at the press conference.
