The number of mobile data users has increased by 1.3 million to a total of 116.41 million in July last, according to latest data.
Fixed phone operators did not, however, get any new internet subscribers in the month and the total number remains static at 11.14 million, the Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) data showed.
At the same time, the mobile phone operators in the country lost 4.0 million SIM users and the number of subscribers reached 184.05 million.
In the previous month of June, total internet subscribers were 126.21 million, of which mobile internet users were 115.07 million while the PSTN number was 11.14 million.
At the end of July 2022, four mobile operators together lost a total of 400,000 new subscribers compared to the previous month.
However, the country's largest mobile network operator Grameenphone (GP) lost 700,000 subscribers in July.
The second-largest operator, Robi Axiata, gained 240,000 new users in the same month.
At the end of June, the total mobile subscribers were 184.45 million which fell to 184.05 in July.
The GP subscribers stood at 84.08 million at the end of July, down from 84.80 million in June.
This is the big decline of GP subscribers after BTRC put embargo on the operator to add new users, according to the BTRC data. Earlier in June, GP lost 150,000 subscribers.
The third largest mobile operator Banglalink gained 110,000 users in July while state-owned Teletalk lost 4,000 subscribers.
