The Ministry of Commerce is set to hold a meeting with the stakeholders today (Tuesday) to devise strategies on how to keep the prices of essential items stable in the market.
The meeting with traders and trade bodies will review the price situation in the kitchen markets, with Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi in the chair.
In the meeting, necessary steps would be taken to stabilise the prices of commodities, including edible, sugar, rice, and egg.
Presently, prices of various essentials in the country are on an upward trend, hurting commoners so bad.
The meeting will also discuss the current price situation of main construction materials steel and rod.
Representatives from top importers, retailers and wholesalers will join the meeting. Leaders of different trade bodies, including the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industries (FBCCI), are expected to attend the meeting too.
Besides, Senior Commerce Secretary Tapan Kanti Ghosh, senior officials of different ministries and state agencies will also attend the meeting.
