The foundation laying ceremony of the 600-metre-long Patenga container terminal will be held tomorrow (Friday), reports BSS.
Shipping Minister M Shahjahan Khan will formally lay the foundation stone of the terminal on the day.
The construction of the terminal involving Taka 18 billion will be completed by the end of 2019. After the completion of the terminal, pressure on the Chittagong port will reduce to a great extent, said sources at Chittagong port.
The construction of the terminal is indispensible to cope with the ever increasing growth in cargo, container as well as vessel trafficking, the port sources said.
