Microsoft Regional Sales PTE Ltd obtained Value Added Tax (VAT) registration on Thursday following the government’s law to operate in Bangladesh.
The non-resident company will have to submit monthly VAT returns to the government from now on.
Dhaka South VAT zone has issued the registration, known as business identification number (BIN), in favour of the company’s Singapore office, 182, Cecil Street, 13-01 Frasers Tower, Singapore-069547.
Podder & Associates will work as the local VAT agent for Microsoft.
Earlier, Facebook, Amazon and Google obtained VAT registration from the National Board of Revenue (NBR).
As per the VAT and Supplementary Duty Act-2012, the VAT registration and file VAT returns were made mandatory from July 1, 2019.
However, the companies were facing difficulties to comply with the law due to complex provisions, which have now been amended.
