Mahtab Uddin Ahmed steps down as Robi MD and CEO

Mahtab Uddin Ahmed is stepping down from his role as managing director and CEO of telecommunications company Robi after five years.

The executive, whose term was to officially end on Oct 31, decided not to renew his contract and will go on leave with immediate effect, according to a statement from the company.

M Riyaaz Rasheed, the company’s chief financial officer, will take over as acting CEO in addition to his current duties, reports bdnews24.com.

“On behalf of the Robi Board of Directors, I would like to thank Mahtab for establishing Robi firmly as the leading digital service provider of the country,” said Thayaparan Sangarapillai, chairman of the board.

Mahtab thanked Robi’s employees, the management team, business partners, the media, the government agencies he had worked with and customers for their cooperation throughout his leadership of the company.

Mahtab was Robi’s first Bangladeshi CEO. During his tenure Robi expanded into 4G and also made the biggest IPO in a decade.
